From the opening chapter of YOU'VE GOT TO BE CAREFULLY TAUT—when, to avoid embarrassment over a clumsy meeting with Bernadette Peters, he shrinks down to a height of eight inches and hides behind a potted plant until he is able to sneak out through the mail slot in the door—to the last—a priceless and whimsical chronology of the elaborate preparations for “our best Christmas ever”—Ross keeps us in virtual gut-busting and joyful stitches. Although the book’s mainstay is humor, it is also studded with interesting celebrity encounters and unique narratives that provide insight into the exciting and complex world of a versatile professional musician. I knew, after reading his first book, that it would be a hard act to follow, but follow it he has, with a plucky, spirit-lifting tome that deserves a spot on the bookshelf of anyone who enjoys reading heartfelt stories stitched together with colorful threads of hilarity. He's done it again! No sophomore slump for this kid. Konikoff has a way with words - combining humor and intelligence - Humorelligence! He raises the bar for literary entertainment. Read this and be amused. Be VERY amused.
You can't make me laugh, but Ross Konikoff can and does....all the time. His second book did it again. Keeps my BP at a healthy level. Y'all will laugh out loud so read it in private.Save the explaining. I do not regret reading it. I do regret reading it in church during Mass.
