About The Coyote by James Roberts

"The sign on the tree attracted the man's attention while he was still far down the slope. He could see the tall pine on the crest of the ridge above a veritable landmark in that country of stunted timber"

The Coyote By James Roberts Illustrated James Roberts 9781541065079 Books

This is a saga of a lone man who becomes infamous for things he both did - and didn't do. Often in the wrong place at the wrong time, the "Coyote" moves from place to place trying to find his way through life, trying to decide if proving his innocence, or becoming the outlaw most citizens think he is, is the path to take. The early auto and telephone have a small part in the story which is somewhat unusual for most tales in this genre. Overall, it's well worth reading if you enjoy western fiction adventure.

This is a classic western featuring the good guy being painted as the bad guy so he plays the part for a time until his conscience gets the better of him.

I found this book to be a interesting read, the coyote is a strong character. You will find yourself rooting for him through all of his situations.

Can't beat a classic western, love it!
This was a believable western the characters were descriptive and there were many. The scenery was described well and easy to imagine . The ending was good.
I liked the story. I think John Roberts is a fine author and has a lot of talent. I will look for more of his books.
the theme we sometimes come across; the coyote happens to come across circumstances where he didnt act at all, and he nevertheless is accused of crimes. Thats why he acts as stranger and plays a one-against-all role
I would like more descriptive development of elements around landscape AND chacters. Story line could be upfront and less dragged behind the action .....after the fact.
l don't normally read Western (cowboy) stories, but once l started reading this book, the stark character of Raubern, against the sinister impression of the perceived outlaw called "The Coyote", kept me wanting to know how the story would end. Yes a very good yarn.
Wow. I had expected a fantastical story filled with some wool and much whimsy. I found multiple short stories concerning a fellow who seemed sad and unlucky, that is, unlucky in reputation and very lucky with situations. This story proved to be spell-binding and wonderful. It included adventure, suspense, gun blazing, and romantic. I absolutely loved the ending and wonder what has become of the gunman and his lady love. Read this one and see if you can remain unmoved. I dare ya!
